Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman Star On ‘challenging’ Part Of Harrowing MND Storyline

EXCLUSIVE: Paul Foreman’s motor neurone disease diagnosis earlier this year devastated Coronation Street viewers.

Actor Peter Ash from the ITV soap opera Coronation Street has spoken out about how difficult it was to portray Paul Foreman’s MND storyline.

Viewers saw Paul struggle with his hands’ mobility earlier this year, which led to him visiting the doctor to figure out what was wrong.

He was found to have MND after tests, as he had been exhibiting more symptoms over time.

He’s been having leg problems more recently, and after a few nasty falls, he’s taken to using a wheelchair.

Peter Ash exclusively shared his experiences documenting Paul’s MND journey with Express.co.uk and other media outlets.

The soap opera star admitted that it was challenging to be aware of the parts of your body that wouldn’t be functioning while acting.

“It’s just something that all of us have said we want to get as right as we can, from the beginning.

There are actual people who are affected by this; we don’t want to misrepresent them; instead, we want to depict them honestly and truthfully.

Peter mentioned that the MND association has been collaborating with Coronation Street and that the group is available to respond to any inquiries as they arise regarding Paul’s new symptoms.

“They’re constantly in contact with the storyboarders and handling every aspect of Paul’s story,” he continued.

“Getting the physical stuff is very important, and we want to get that as right as possible.”

The soap star was ecstatic about how viewers responded to Paul’s story and expressed that the goal of the show is to increase awareness of those who are affected by the condition.

“I think the response we’ve gotten is above and beyond anything I ever imagined, it’s been so lovely,” the speaker continued.
