Sheila Carter was a villain who couldn’t be kept in one city as she tormented THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS as well as THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL over the years! Since 1990, Kimberlin Brown has alternated between playing the infamous villain on both soap operas; her most recent engagement on B&B ends in February 2024.
When Sheila Carter first on Y&R in 1990, she was a nurse who developed a potentially deadly obsession with Dr. Scott Grainger. He had to leave Lauren Fenmore, who was also pregnant at the time, when she drugged him so she could have his baby and sleep with him. Sheila snatched Lauren’s kid after her own died. Lauren faced Sheila, who was thought to have perished in the fire that broke out during the struggle, once the terrible truth was revealed.

However, Sheila made it through and moved to Los Angeles, where she used her connections to get hired as Rick’s nanny (after sending the first nanny to the hospital, of course!) and as the company nurse. When Eric fell in love with the newcomer and got engaged, Stephanie Forrester lost her cool. In order to make it seem as though Ridge Forrester, not Eric Forrester, was Bridget’s father, a jealous Sheila altered Brooke Logan’s paternity test.
When Lauren learned that Sheila was still alive, she traveled to Los Angeles to confront her and destroy her relationship with Eric. However, Eric genuinely fell in to Sheila’s pleading for forgiveness, and the two got married! Later, Shelia attempted to strengthen her marriage by having a child with Connor Davis; however, upon disclosing the “good” news of her pregnancy, Eric disclosed that he had undergone a vasectomy and requested a divorce!
Sheila began seeing Jay Garvin, a psychiatrist, but during a fight, she unintentionally pushed him to death. She reportedly locked James Warwick in her basement and attempted to drown Lauren in a hot tub. Sheila threatened to kill James and the Forresters for hurting her once he fled and her secrets were revealed. Sheila attempted suicide after having a change of heart, though, and was admitted to a mental health facility.

Sheila was released from prison quickly, and she became friends with Maggie Forrester—despite the fact that Sheila later falsely accused Maggie of poisoning Stephanie and almost strangled her to death! Sheila said she was expecting James’ child and made a valiant attempt to turn around in order to regain his affection. Sheila made friends with Amber Moore after giving her baby, Mary, to James and Maggie. She encouraged the young lady to take care of Mary so that Sheila could see her daughter in private.
When Maggie attempted to kill her competitor, Sheila attempted to kidnap Mary, and James truly fell in love with Sheila, things became even more confusing! Sheila tried to drown the Forrester matriarch when James and Stephanie became friends out of envy. Sheila was imprisoned, but she broke free, shot Stephanie, abducted Mary, and fled!
When Sheila returned years later with her teenage daughter, Erica Lovejoy, she was horrified to discover the truth about her mother’s identity and her previous transgressions. When Brooke arrived, there was a battle that resulted in Brooke being shot and Taylor Hayes being killed (for a bit, anyway!). Sheila had taken Eric and Taylor hostage. Sheila was imprisoned once more, but she managed to get out with the aid of Sugar, a warden. While on their honeymoon in South America, Sheila abducted Ridge and Brooke, and when Nick Marone attempted to save them, she also snatched him! Sheila disclosed that after giving birth to Diana, Massimo’s daughter, she vanished along with Sugar!

Sheila reappeared in Genoa City and started tormenting Lauren once more, attempting to poison her and turn her adult son Scott against her. Sheila formed a villainous alliance with Tom, but the cad turned on her, and Sheila vanished to get reconstructive surgery. Later on, it came to light that Paul had been holding Sheila captive and that she had staged her appearance to resemble Michelle Stafford’s character, Phyllis Summers!
Sheila kidnapped Phyllis, Summer, and Fen while pretending to be Phyllis; Lauren intervened to save them. Lauren knew she had hit the correct Phyllis when she fired because Sheila tried to use Summer as a human shield when Lauren pulled a gun on the lookalikes. Although Sheila was declared dead at the scene, it’s obvious that the news of her passing were substantially exaggerated!
The Forresters were taken aback in 2017 when Sheila claimed to have turned a new leaf and showed up alive and well (with her old face). But it didn’t take long for her to realize that her primary goal was to reclaim her title as Mrs. Eric Forrester, and she would stop at nothing to get rid of Quinn Fuller, his present wife, who stood in her way! Sheila even used blackmail to get her ex-boyfriend James to assist her in persuading Eric to allow her to move into the mansion after getting hurt in a fight with her opponent. She hired a handsome handyman to woo Quinn and had her own portrait drawn to display above the fireplace. However, Eric was aware of her plans the entire time and finally fired her.

Sheila didn’t make much of an impact, though; she stayed in Los Angeles and worked as a waitress at the neighborhood eatery Il Giardino. She was obviously a primary suspect when Bill Spencer was shot and almost died, but this time she proved to be innocent (for once!). Sheila hadn’t been seen since the spring of 2018, but in August 2021, she made a stunning comeback by revealing that she was Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan’s birth mother—and that too at his wedding to Steffy Forrester!
Finn took the side of the Forresters, who advised him to stay away from his real mother. Sheila pretended to be inconsolable in order to get sympathy, but she was eager to remain a part of Finn and her grandson Hayes’ lives. She also pushed Jack to acknowledge that he was Finn’s biological father as well as his adoptive father, but that didn’t make her popular with the family either. In addition, Sheila teamed up with Deacon Sharpe, who was back in the community and attempting to reunite with his daughter in spite of the Forresters’ disapproval. Enraged by Brooke’s intervention, Sheila replaced her non-alcoholic champagne with the genuine thing on New Year’s Eve, which resulted in an inebriated evening with Deacon that, when discovered, brought an end to her marriage to Ridge!
Sadly, Sheila’s triumphant celebration was short-lived when Thomas discovered what she had done. Steffy overheard them and was desperate to uncover the truth, even if she had succeeded in intimidating him into remaining silent. Finn intervened as Sheila pulled a gun on her, taking the bullet himself! When Steffy attempted to dial 911, Sheila shot her as well, making it appear as though there had been a robbery before abandoning them to perish in the alleyway. Sheila had an argument with Li Finnigan when she got to the hospital, and afterwards, feeling too guilty, she made the decision to leap over the building’s top!

After saving her, Taylor almost fell on her own and thanked Sheila for saving her life. Sheila tried to give Steffy an overdose to stop her from remembering who shot them, but she was interrupted. Sheila was relieved when Steffy woke up with no memory of Finn at all, let alone the shooting, when her family reminded her of her late spouse. Sheila was taken aback when she received an invitation to see Hayes, and when she did, she was set up for a trap by Ridge, Taylor, and a recovering Steffy who accused her of shooting Steffy and killing Finn!
After Sheila was taken into custody by the police and imprisoned, she learned that one of the jail guards was Mike Guthrie, her former accomplice, and he assisted her in getting out! When she approached Li, she was shocked to learn that Finn was indeed alive and that the physician was treating him to recover! Li tried to flee after Sheila attacked her for attempting to call the police, which caused Sheila to crash her car straight off the road and into the sea! Finn was naturally upset with Sheila even though she was able to resuscitate him. He pleaded to be sent back to his family, but Sheila kept him under the influence of drugs out of fear.
When Bill Spencer found a still-alive Li and they went to the location where Finn was being held to save him, Sheila’s plan was foiled. Nevertheless, she was lucky when Mike arrived to assist her in getting away and eluding the police! Later, when the police presented evidence that Sheila had escaped Los Angeles and perished in a bear encounter in the mountains, the Forresters were taken aback! But shortly after, after spending a wild night with an enigmatic redhead, Deacon was shocked to discover that he had actually spent the night sleeping with Sheila in disguise!

Sheila was determined to come back into Finn’s life and was able to convince Deacon into letting her stay with him. Sheila and Deacon became entangled in a complex relationship, despite his entreaties for her to cease darting out under false pretenses. As it happened, she stumbled across Steffy, who was beginning to suspect that the villain had staged her demise! Steffy saw through Sheila’s disguise that she was missing one of her toes, so Sheila took off running and gave the police a fast chase. Sheila walked right up to Finn and Steffy’s house during a major storm to make her case after eluding the police. Naturally, they didn’t want to hear it, but Bill Spencer arrived to stop them before they could contact the police.
Bill disclosed to Taylor that he and Sheila were now a couple and threatened to report Taylor to the police for shooting him should they attempt to arrest Sheila. After that, Sheila went home with Bill, who had planned to finally release her so they could be together by calling the police. Sheila delighted in Bill’s expressions of love while everyone else attempted to persuade him that he was making a grave error. She was still drawn to Deacon, though, and he encouraged her to break up with Bill and start a serious relationship with him.
Bill surprised Sheila by asking her out, and he encouraged her to tell him everything so that they wouldn’t have any secrets from one another. However, after she admitted to killing a guy, Bill disclosed that he was collaborating with Ridge and the FBI to coerce her into confessing so they could sentence her to life in prison! When she attempted to flee, she was taken into custody. Sheila, though, swore that she would be free once more, even if she was imprisoned!

As expected, the court dismissed Sheila’s case on a technicality when she appeared for her sentence and then warmly embraced Finn. Additionally, she saved Kelly from drowning at the beach when Finn had his back turned. Although Kelly was appreciative of his mother, Steffy was incensed—especially after learning about the hug in court! Steffy temporarily removed the children from Finn’s life when Sheila insisted on being involved in his life. Sheila was taken aback when she learned that Deacon had asked the judge for a favor in order to have her released, and even more so when he proposed!Later on, though, she became irritated when Deacon refused to announce their engagement to the world for fear that it would anger everyone.
Sheila didn’t like that Steffy had warned Finn to stay away and that Hope was always trying to get her father to abandon her. When Sheila was accosted by Steffy to warn her off, things became violent. Sheila was devastated when Deacon broke off their engagement in February 2024 at Hope’s insistence. Sheila’s greeting to Kelly at Il Giardino infuriated Steffy so much that she went over to confront and punch the culprit once more. Sheila pursued Steffy to the cliff home after being pushed over the edge, intending to murder her, but in the shadows, Sheila was fatally stabbed by Steffy!
