On screen and off, Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor fell in love. But do they remain a couple?
Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor’s hearts began to race from the instant they locked lips and eventually eyes on the set of Home and Away.
They fell deeply and quickly in love with one other, just like their characters Dean and Ziggy did, strengthening an already-established bond.
The couple, who left the shores of Summer Bay behind earlier this year to start a new life in London, have grown closer in the years since they first revealed their passion.
These two have been dating for more than four years, and they are stronger than ever—from the world of film to the real world!
Are Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor still together?
Indeed, they are!
Remarkably, Sophie and Patrick didn’t initially meet on the set of Home and Away; in fact, they had already met before they began their respective careers on the venerable soap opera.
“We actually went to acting school together years ago, so we knew each other at uni,” the 30-year-old said in a March 2021 interview on The Morning Show.
We weren’t really in contact at first because we were in different years when we were buddies, but we eventually crossed paths on the program. Furthermore, it was fitting that our characters reunited on the program.
In June 2017, Sophie made her Home and Away debut as Ziggy. In February 2018, her future partner Patrick made his on-screen debut.
The aspiring young actors announced their romance to the world in September 2019, however it’s unclear when it officially began as fans and photographers had been spotted them out and about on dates in the months before.
After three years, Sophie wrote, “We decided to give the relationship a go, and thank goodness we did,” in her column for Yahoo Lifestyle, reflecting on her choice to date her co-star.
“After a few years together, we moved across the world, had a fur baby, and many crazy holiday stories,” she continued.

What have Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor said about their relationship?
In an interview with our sister magazine TV WEEK, Sophie revealed, quite predictably, that she enjoyed having her lover by her side at work.
“Working with him is fantastic; it’s always enjoyable. It’s the best because I never know what I’m going to get from him [during filming], she remarked.
“We are able to be quite honest. We can communicate well with one another and ask for what we need from each other, and it will be provided.
During a subsequent interview, Sophie revealed that prioritizing their friendship helped establish solid groundwork for their relationship.
“We treat each other like best friends first and foremost, but it’s also made our relationship stronger from the beginning,” the actress pondered.
Patrick, Sophie’s devoted partner, has also expressed how amazed he is by Sophie’s acting abilities.
“I think Sophie’s a great actress, and having a comfortable relationship with each other is nice on set.”
Why did Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor leave Home and Away?
The performers moved to the United Kingdom in January 2023 to begin a new chapter of their lives together, leaving the beaches of Summer Bay for a colder climate.
While Sophie and Patrick made an easy choice, fans were upset.
We basically played someone else much more than ourselves for a very long time. In May 2023, Sophie confided to our sister journal Woman’s Day, “Right now, all we want is to see the world.”
In a March 2023 interview with TV WEEK, Sophie revealed the news of their character’s on-screen exit and noted that their drama’s storylines had naturally come to an end.
“It was time to begin a new chapter because we had both exhausted all possibilities with our characters.”
Do Sophie and Patrick have any kids?
Although their on-screen counterparts are embarking on this exciting next step together, the young couple has not yet started a family of their own. However, in March 2021, they adopted a cavoodle named Winnie.
In a 2023 interview with New Idea, Patrick described how adopting Winnie was as a sort of “test run” for him and Sophie when it came to growing their family.
“It helped me realize that starting our own family is the path we want to take because he’s just the cutest little dude and it was the first time I’ve had someone totally rely on me,” he said.
Are Sophie and Patrick engaged?
Although Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor remain together and are much in love, there is currently no information regarding their engagement.
But Sophie has already given New Idea hints about the kind of wedding she and Patrick are planning.
“I’ve lately witnessed a few of my girlfriends get married and experience the anxiety of organizing bid days.We might just decide to elope in Vegas!
“The complete Elvis drive-through wedding experience in Las Vegas.”
However, Patrick had different ideas. At the moment, he made a joke, saying, “I don’t think our families would ever forgive us.”
