Home and Away confirms fostering twist in Tane’s baby storyline

Tane Parata’s baby tale will include a significant fostering twist, according to Home and Away.

Tane previously discovered a baby abandoned in a bag at the beach, and according to Australia’s TV Week, his pals are concerned since he refuses to leave the newborn’s side at the hospital, and would not eat or sleep unless a doctor is present.

He called the baby Maia, the Māori word meaning courage.

Mali and Mackenzie ask him what he’s trying to accomplish, and Tane admits that if the parents don’t come forward, he’ll apply to be the baby’s primary caregiver. Mackenzie is frightened that he is simply trying to fill the gap left by his failed marriage to Felicity.

Tane is undaunted by his friends’ and Dr. Bree’s advice against caring for the infant, and his plans are thwarted when he discovers that he must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident to foster.

Felicity tries to help after hearing about Tane’s dilemma, but her true motivation is unclear.

Ethan Browne, who plays Tane, told the publication that the character is “doing his best to move forward and focus on life after the split.”

“He’s trying to find out what to do with himself, but he’s doing well, and the future looks promising.

“He wants the best for this baby and wants to ensure she is placed in a suitable family and care. He can’t help but feel responsible for her, since he discovered her.”
