A former Metropolitan Police officer has released a new timeline of missing youngster Jay Slater’s movements in Tenerife, implying that his disappearance is linked to a “established criminal network”.
Jay, a 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, went missing three weeks ago after leaving a party with two British boys and staying the night at an Airbnb in a rural area.
This was Jay’s first trip abroad, and despite significant search efforts, he has not been seen since Monday, June 17, when he last made contact while attempting to return to the tourist hub of Los Christianos.
The story took a grim turn this week when it was learned that one of Jay’s last visitors was a convicted narcotics dealer. TV investigator Mark Williams-Thomas, who traveled to Tenerife to assist in the search for Jay, announced that additional investigation into the case has revealed a criminal network tied to drugs, violent crime, and theft, according to the Daily Star.

In a terrifying update, he disclosed in a video on X: “As part of this investigation, we have attempted to speak with all of the people Jay interacted with while in Tenerife.
This investigation has uncovered an established criminal network with ties to drugs, violent crime, and theft. At this point, I can’t go much further with what we know. I can’t say whether this network has anything to do with Jay’s disappearance, but I’ll keep an open mind as we continue to investigate.

The plot developed when Mark revealed on Sunday that Ayub Qassim, 31, a man sentenced nine years ago for running a scam flooding Wales with Class A narcotics, is the enigmatic “Jonny Vegas” who ferried Slater to a distant holiday home.Mark admitted to having a conversation with Qassim, saying: “In the last 24 hours, I spoke in detail with Ayub Qassim, also known as Jonny Vegas.
“He claimed to be on the (Veronicas) Strip in Playa de las Americas and related how Jay was eager to keep the party going without a roof over his head, prompting him (Qassim) to offer a kip at his rented flats.
“They blasted tunes during the drive, made a pit stop for a fizzy pop, and it was a trio in the motor Jay riding shotgun in the back and Qassim’s mate riding up front.”When they arrived at the property, his friend unlocked the door, took a sharp left turn, and crashed out.
“Qassim went upstairs and got Jay a crimson blanket as soon as he entered. ‘Yo bro, the sofa’s all yours,’ Qassim remarked, passing him a towel in case he felt like taking a shower. When Jay requested to smoke as well, Qassim offered him a Camel cigarette and set it aside. Then, when Qassim’s friend was kipping, Jay requested for a charger and snuck into his room to collect it.
“Mr Williams-Thomas reported that Qassim confirmed to him that he drifted off only to be woken by the sound of the door buzzing, where he spotted Jay conversing “with a woman”.
Jay then left to get some breakfast and catch the bus, but he hasn’t been seen or heard from since. His family is still combing the island nonstop for him.
