The 30-year-old Jamie Borthwick dazzled us with his salsa performance on Strictly Come Dancing last weekend. He recently made the joke that things aren’t going as well in his romantic life.
Although Jamie Borthwick hasn’t been as fortunate in love, he shone last weekend on Strictly Come Dancing with his greatest score to yet.
The famously difficult-to-please judge Craig Revel Horwood praised the EastEnders actor and his dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas for their Salsa performance to Don Oma’s Danza Kuduro, calling him a “incredible dancer” as they scored 34 points.
The 30-year-old celebrity previously triumphed in the talent show’s Christmas special with professional Nancy Xu the previous year, but this year’s competition is extremely tough, and comedian Chris McCausland is presently the bookies’ favorite to win.
While Jamie is dazzling on the dance floor, he responded less favorably off stage to a lighthearted inquiry about his romantic life.
When asked if he had enforced a sex prohibition in order to focus entirely on the event, the performer joked that “no-one loves him”. “I’m not going to have a drink ban,” he told Daily Mail.
“I can’t do a sex ban since I’ve never drunk in my life and no one loves me.I want lots of food, not prohibitions.”
Jamie, who portrays Jay Brown in EastEnders, is unmarried at the moment despite having been romantically linked to two gorgeous co-stars in the past and admitting to being “in love” with a third.
This May, viewers witnessed tragic images as Lola Pearce, mechanic Jay’s on-screen wife, passed away from a brain tumor. At many award presentations, Jamie and actress Danielle Harold were spotted cuddling together, but the actor maintained that the two were simply friends.
Jay met Lola’s twin Nadine Keller shortly after Lola died on TV. He was connected to Jazzy Phoenix, the actress who played her, but he cleared the air once more around Christmas.
He told the Mirror, “They linked me with Danielle and they linked me with Jazzy.”He went on, “I’m just surprised they haven’t linked me with Nancy,” a reference to his partner from Strictly dancing.
The actor has previously declared himself “in love” with EastEnders Honey Mitchell, Emma Barton. They said they were “at different stages of their lives” after their age difference caused them to break from each other when their roles became popular on film.
“I first saw Emma Barton when I was around 14 years old,” an infatuated Jamie said to the TV Times. “I fell in love with her long, shapely legs and I wanted to marry her.”
Perry Fenwick, Jamie’s sly co-star in the soap opera who portrays Honey’s husband Billy Mitchell, once challenged him to strike up a conversation with Emma. “I remember walking over to her and saying: ‘Alright darlin’, wow, you smell nice’,” Jamie recalled. “It brought the house down and we still laugh about it now.”
