Coronation Street star Andy Whyment, who portrays Kirk Sutherland in the ITV soap, shared a sweet Instagram post wishing his son a happy birthday, and it’s clear the teenager has grown incredibly tall.
Coronation Street star Andy Whyment was dwarfed by his son in a heartwarming post celebrating his 18th birthday. The proud dad, 45, took to Instagram to mark son Tom’s special milestone, and the noticeable height difference between them certainly stood out.
Andy, who has portrayed Kirk Sutherland on Corrie since 2000, shared several lovely family photographs. Alongside the snaps, he wrote: “Today you turn 18 @tomwhyment. Just want you to know that we couldn’t be any prouder of the man you’ve become.”
The soap actor continued: “Happy Birthday son, have the best day. We love you very much.”
Andy’s former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! campmate Myles Stephenson also wished Tom a happy birthday, writing: “The big dog. Happy birthday king T.”
One follower commented: “Happy birthday to your fully grown-up Tom! It’s scary how quickly it goes, isn’t it!”
Andy shares Tom and his 15-year-old daughter Hollie with his wife, Nichola Willis. The couple got married in 2007.
Recently, Andy spoke to fans on TikTok about what it’s like filming scenes for the soap. When asked about his typical working day, he explained: “It depends on how many scenes you’ve got.
“Sometimes you might only have one scene and be at work for a couple of hours, but there are also days when you have five or more scenes and stay there all day. My earliest call time is 7.40am, and I can be there until 6.45pm.”
