Coronation Street’s Lucy Fallon has been entertaining viewers with her portrayal of Bethany Platt since joining the soap in 2015.

Popular Coronation Street actress Lucy Fallon is engaged to a well-known partner whom some fans may recognise. The 30-year-old star first appeared in Weatherfield as Bethany Platt in 2015.

Viewers of the ITV soap will know that Bethany is the daughter of Sarah Platt, played by Tina O’Brien, who is currently behind bars after killing her abusive partner, Theo Silverton (James Cartwright). While Sarah awaits her trial in prison, Bethany has been staying with her mum’s former boyfriend, DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).

Bethany and Kit have been helping to look after Sarah’s young son, Harry (Joshua Leavy). Meanwhile, Kit has also been facing his recent breast cancer diagnosis, with his chemotherapy treatment due to begin this week.

Things took a complicated turn at Sarah’s flat when Bethany and Kit had a one-night stand, which Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) later discovered. Racked with guilt, particularly as she is currently in a relationship with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), Bethany promised to keep the encounter hidden from her mum.

The drama escalated on Tuesday (October 13), when Bethany discovered that she was pregnant. As she considers what to do next, let’s take a closer look at Lucy Fallon’s life away from the cobbles.

Lucy is currently engaged to professional footballer Ryan Ledson, who plays for League One side Huddersfield Town. The couple have two children together: three-year-old Sonny and 21-month-old Nancy.

Lucy has spoken openly about her previous stay at The Priory, a facility that specialises in mental health treatment. Appearing on Johnny Seifert’s Secure the Insecure podcast, the actress revealed: “I was at the absolute lowest point I had ever, ever experienced. I was really, really, really struggling.

“I went through a particularly difficult period with my mental health towards the end of 2020, and I ended up spending around five weeks at The Priory because things had become so bad. I couldn’t see a way out of how I was feeling.”

She continued: “Coming out and returning to the real world, where I had to carry on with everyday life, felt strange. However, I also had a really strong support system around me.”

Following Bethany’s pregnancy bombshell on the cobbles, Lucy confirmed that Kit is the baby’s father. Speaking about her surprise when she first heard about the storyline, Lucy revealed: “When our producer Kate [Brooks] was explaining what was going to happen and then told me that Bethany ends up getting pregnant, my jaw was on the floor.

“I think it’s brilliant because now they have to face the consequences of their actions, rather than simply sweeping everything under the carpet as they had hoped. It brings an entirely new level of drama for the audience.”

The actress also discussed the possibility of Bethany having a termination, explaining: “Morally, she isn’t completely against it, because that’s not the kind of person she is. However, it’s a huge decision to make, and she has to consider whether she could actually go through with it. She’s already been through quite a lot herself, so I’m not sure whether she feels able to go through with this.”
