According to an expert, Strictly Come Dancing star Lacey Turner is “lacking in inner confidence.”

Strictly Come Dancing star Lacey Turner could face a challenging time as the competition heats up. On Saturday evening, October 17, the remaining 13 celebrities and their professional dance partners will take to the dance floor, hoping to impress the judges and viewers following the elimination of Melanie Walters and Aljaž Škorjanec, the second contestant to leave the competition.

The upcoming live show will see the couples perform for Icons Week, with Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe returning to their presenting roles. During last week’s live episode, Lacey Turner and her professional partner, Vito Coppola, opened the show with a Samba to “Bamboléo” by the Gipsy Kings. Their performance earned them 26 points, placing them seventh on the leaderboard.

Although Lacey appeared nervous about being the first couple to perform, the judges were impressed by their Samba routine. Judge Motsi Mabuse encouraged the actress to have greater confidence in herself, while Shirley Ballas described their performance as “spectacular”.

Supporting Lacey, Vito told her: “I challenge you, but I will always make sure you reach your goal. I wish you could see yourself through other people’s eyes and realise just how brilliantly you are doing.”

The EastEnders star, who plays Stacey Slater in the BBC soap, is considered one of the favourites to win the Glitterball Trophy this year. However, a body language expert has warned that the “chemistry” between Lacey and Vito appears to be “dire”, according to reports from Wales Online.

Body language expert Judi James explained that Lacey has strong dancing skills and connects well with the audience. However, she believes the actress needs to build a stronger bond with her professional dance partner, Vito Coppola, for their partnership to succeed.

Judi said: “The body language and apparent chemistry between Lacey and Vito on Saturday night looked concerning, to the point of seeming dire. Lacey clearly lacks inner confidence, and her self-belief as a dancer needs considerable support and reassurance.

“She dances beautifully, but there are noticeable signs of anxiety, hesitation and even panic at certain moments, as she sometimes drops an arm or loses her smile during the routine. This suggests that rather than being completely immersed in the performance, her mind suddenly jumps ahead and worries about what might happen next.

“Her facial expressions after the dance featured several gestures that suggested denial. She also began looking downwards and adopting defensive postures, such as the ‘fig leaf’ stance, and at one point appeared to try to fold her arms.”

The expert added: “Lacey has the potential to win the competition, as her combination of personality and dancing ability should help carry her through to the final.

“However, they can only achieve this together. They need to develop a stronger sense of teamwork and mutual understanding, rather than appearing as ‘big-character’ Vito alongside a ‘nervous-looking’ Lacey.”

Could Lacey manage to claim the top spot on this week’s leaderboard?
