Coronation Street fans want ICONIC character to return after Roy drops clue

Coronation Street fans want a legendary character to return to the cobbles after Roy Cropper’s surprise comment.

Fans of Coronation Street are calling for the return of the renowned Becky McDonald (Katherine Kelly) to the cobbles in response to Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) touching remark in Monday night’s episode (March 11).

After Roy unintentionally threw away important evidence while tidying up Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) apartment, he was unintentionally made a suspect in the disappearance of the teenage girl.

He cleaned the apartment and paid Lauren’s overdue rent after finding out that his friend Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) would be held accountable for the awful condition Lauren had left it in.

When Roy sacked Lauren from her job at the café in February after Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) accused her of stealing £5 from her handbag, Lauren disappeared.

She then revealed to Roy that she intended to permanently leave Weatherfield and that, a few hours later, she disappeared without a trace.

Carla Barlow (Alison King) and her nephew Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) rushed to the police station to inform DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) about the unsettling find after Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) discovered what looked to be blood stains in Lauren’s apartment.

Later, when DS Swain and Craig arrived to question Bobby, he told them everything about Lauren’s relationship with Roy, including how he found her a place to live, a job, and his desire to help her move on from her difficult history.

When DS Swain visited Roy in the café, he inquired as to why, considering Lauren’s past, he had hired her in the first place.

Roy retorted, “Yeah, she was obviously having trouble starting over. She made me think of someone I had previously assisted. That person had, in a sense, found their feet working here. Regretfully, Lauren didn’t experience the same outcome.”

Naturally, Roy was referring to Becky McDonald, the unstable ex-con that he and his spouse Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) adopted in 2006.

Following a three-month jail term, Becky enrolled in an ex-offenders literacy program where Hayley was volunteering.

The Croppers allowed Becky to move in with them after seeing she was a changed person and wanted to better herself. She also began working at Roy’s Rolls. Becky’s relationship and passionate attachment to the pair marked a turning point in her life.

Following Roy’s unexpected comment, fans are now pleading for Becky to return to the cobbles…
