After making a reappearance in the ITV cobbles in late December 2023, Matt Milburn’s character Tommy Orpington struck up a conversation with Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), who engaged him to redecorate No. 1.

Watchers will recall that after a series of events, the couple ended up in a turbulent relationship, which was eventually uncovered by Tracy’s husband Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) with the assistance of his friend Tim Metcalfe.

Rather of pleading for forgiveness, Tracy surprised Steve even more by admitting that she was eager to move on from their marriage and that she had been bored.

Sadly, Tommy’s announcement that he would be leaving Weatherfield to accept a coaching position in Spain caused her entire plan to fall apart.

Just when Steve was ready to get back into the dating game, the former football player dumped Tracy. However, in scenes that will run next week, Tommy writes to the florist, urging her to travel overseas with him.

Steve discovers the letter and conceals it from Tracy so that she doesn’t discover it either.

Tracy tells her daughter Amy (Elle Mulvaney) that she misses having a guy in her life over lunch at the Bistro, and she quickly acts to prevent loneliness from taking over.

Later images see Steve returning home, surprised to see Tracy there, and breaking down as he goes into his pocket for Tommy’s letter.

Tracy says that she would like to see her husband again, even though she made a strong statement in the previous weeks stating that she wanted to end their marriage.

Steve is reassured by Tracy that Tommy was only an idiotic error, and she vows to return permanently.

Later, a reserved Tracy watches Steve go for a congratulatory bottle of wine.

However, Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin), who is appalled by his announcement that they are reuniting, vehemently declines to serve him.

Tracy suggests that they head to the pub instead, and in an effort to keep his marriage intact, Steve destroys Tommy’s letter.

Unfortunately for him, Tracy and Steve’s relationship worsens and secrets are never kept under wraps in cobblestones.

In other scenes, Tracy phones No. 1 to retrieve her final belongings and tells Amy, Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), and Ken Barlow (William Roache) how much she will miss them.

After raising a toast to Tracy and wishing her well in her new life in Spain, Ken proposes a farewell drink in the Rovers.

Amy is concerned about Steve as he hides himself in his newspaper.

Will he make another attempt to stop Tracy from leaving?

Is Tracy going to alter her mind again?

Viewers of the Manchester-based program were initially introduced to Tracy in 1977, and over the years, four different actresses have played her.

Holly Chamarette and Christabel Finch preceded Dawn Acton, who was replaced by Kate Ford in 2002.

Tracy was a villain on soap operas that viewers liked to detest. She appeared in several of the show’s most prominent plots, one of which dealt with the murder of her boyfriend Charlie Stubbs, who was a cheater.
