Home and Away fans divided over dramatic storyline: ‘Gone on too long’

Fans of Home and Away are growing weary of one of the show’s recurring plots, in which former lovers Eden Fowler and Cash Newman deal with their grief and separation following the passing of Cash’s sister and Eden’s best friend, Felicity Newman. Just after Felicity’s funeral, Cash broke up with his ex-fiance, pushing her away with the justification that, well, everyone he loves passes away or leaves him in some way.

Since Flick’s passing about a month ago, fans of Home and Away have been grieved, so it makes sense that Eden and Cash are still in mourning. However, in terms of fictitious plot, fans are growing a little tired of the never-ending “will they or won’t they get back together?” drama.

After Tuesday night’s episode was hinted at, involving an inebriated Eden coming to speak with Cash, a fan took to a Facebook fan group and vented, saying, “It’s gone on too long now, writers are stretching this out….where are they going with this now?”

Fans argued over whether Eden and Cash should get back together and whether the plot had gone on for too long in the comments area. As the saying goes, “It’s time to dump him, sis, if his name starts with any letter of the alphabet!”

“Cash needs to wake up to himself and see sense and get back together with Eden,” cried an admirer. “He must still love her, how can he just turn his feelings off?”

“Do you think grief last a few days?” Another person made a counterargument. “You also know you don’t have to watch it if it’s dragging on.”

Someone shot back, “It’s Summer Bay, time doesn’t exist.”

Another fan stated, “Cash needs to go back to work and get on with his life… he cannot keep pushing Eden away… she’s lost her friend also,” yet another fan strongly disagreed.

“Eden, stop being a leech; you can’t make him stay with you,” they urged. “Let him come to you when he deals with his grief, if it’s meant to be, it will work itself out.”
