Home And Away! Looking back at some of the River Boys

The wonderful thing about River Boys is that they are the perfect example of the traditional Home and Away bad boy group—they never stop coming back to Summer Bay.

Even though the River Boys are a Mangrove River-based criminal group, why must they be so attractive?

From 2011 till 2016, Summer Bay was initially introduced to the group with The Braxton Brothers. With the assistance of his three brothers, Heath, Casey, and Kyle, who weren’t announced until 2012, Darryl “Brax” Braxton led the group.

The River Boys trapped the inhabitants for six years, but wouldn’t Home and Away be the same without its perilous leads and generally disorganized plots?

We’ve compiled a list of all the problematic bad boys who have visited the made-up town of Summer Bay, following the revelation in 2024 that a River Boy would be joining Rory back there.

  • The Braxton Brothers

Even though The Braxton Brothers haven’t been on TV for almost a decade, Summer Bay enthusiasts everywhere still get excited when they see them.

Stephen Peacocke played Brax, while the sinister yet seductive trio consisted of his brothers Dan Ewing as Heath and Lincoln Younes as half-brother Casey.

Steven declared his intention to leave Home and Away in 2015. Regarding his character, he organized a botched escape plan after being imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. Though the Bay assumed the River Boy had passed away, Brax said goodbye to the Bay along with Rickey and their kid Casey on his last appearance.

His baby was called Casey, after his half-brother Brax, who was shot and killed in 2014.

Regarding Heath, he appeared briefly at Casey’s funeral then vanished from the scene in 2014. But after he and his wife Bianca Scott (Lisa Gormley) returned in 2016, he made his last appearance in 2017.

  • Kyle Braxton

Although he wasn’t formally a member of the original trio, Kyle (Nic Westaway) was related to The Braxton Brothers. He entered the show for the first time in 2012 and left in 2016 after receiving a prison sentence for armed robbery.

  • Danny Braxton

In 2012, Danny Braxton—who is the father of Heath and Darryl but raised Casey as a son—came into the picture. Despite having a very brief visit on Home and Away, his plot was quite hectic!

His plot came to an end when Casey shot him, following numerous altercations with Brax that caused disturbances in Summer Bay.

  • Brodie Upton

Following the Braxtons to Summer Bay in 2011, Brodie was among the first River Boys there. After breaking the River Boy code, which forbids bullying of the elderly, he had a difficult relationship with Brax.

Brax told Brodie to turn himself in to the authorities after he stole some marijuana crops, and he grudgingly complied. He was open to the possibility of serving time in prison, though. Following a flurry, Brax had Brodie taken out of the area and instructed not to return.

  • Stuart Henderson

In 2011, Stu (Brenton Thwaites) arrived in Summer Bay and was soon assimilated by the River Boys. Shortly after, he received a River Boy tattoo that was brutally removed. Stuart’s abuse of Sasha turned him from a beloved bad boy.

Following his passing in 2012, Stuart’s final episode aired.

  • Dean Thompson

A new generation of River Boys is here, so long Braxton Brothers. Introduced in 2018, Dean (Patrick O’Connor) had a golden heart despite his harsh exterior and his romantic relationship with Ziggy (Sophie Dillman).

When his ex-girlfriend announced in 2023 that she was moving out with their kid Jai, Dean made his last performance on TV. After that, he asks Ziggy, who is eager to begin a new chapter, what she thinks about moving.
