A cherished member of the production team of Home and Away has passed away.
Prior to his passing, Bruce Murray, a vital grip for the serial opera, had been fighting stage 4 oesophageal cancer for more than a year.
Stars of the venerable Seven show, both past and current, reminisced over their beloved coworker on social media.
In her homage, Emily Weir, who portrays Mackenzie in the show, shared a video of Murray cracking jokes on the Home and Away set.
“I adore you, Brucey, you gorgeous creature,” was her caption for the video.
A picture of Murray was included in a virtual “scrapbook” that Sarah Roberts, who departed the show in 2021, shared with the cast and crew of Home and Away.
Sarah posted on her Instagram stories on Monday, saying, “What a man, never a dull moment on the set or on the dance floor.”
One of the things that made me enjoy going to work was that I couldn’t stop laughing at his jokes and dancing. Brucey, I’ll miss you!
In October 2023, a Go Fund Me page was created to help gather money for Bruce’s family while he received treatment, revealing the tragic news of Murray’s sickness.
His GFM profile stated, “Our beloved, good friend Bruce Murray was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Oesophageal Cancer. Unfortunately, the cancer has spread to his bloodstream and formed multiple cancers on his bones, including his ribs, spine, collar bone, sacrum, and hips.”
Bruce will begin radiation treatment on his spine, ribs, and hips, which are his three most critical bone locations. He will also shortly begin a combination of immunotherapy and chemotherapy.
It will be a long trip, but we are optimistic and confident in the strength of our beloved Brucey.

Murray’s medical expenses were covered by a $51,000 GoFundMe that Georgie Parker, Phillipa Northeast, Matt Little, and Ada Nicodemou all contributed to.
The adored technician had over 20 years of experience as a grip, key grip, and jib operator in the film and television industries.
It is an extremely skilled position that requires camera mounting equipment.
Among Murray’s television credits were Breakers, Above the Law, Good News Week, and All Saints.
