This week, as beloved character Felicity Newman passed away in the hospital, Home and Away aired tragic images on UK television.
In this Friday’s episode (September 27), Felicity passed out at her brother Cash’s engagement party. She was taken to the hospital and treated urgently for a brain aneurysm.

There were no guarantees of recovery and things only grew worse when Felicity had a second, more severe, aneurysm.
According to medical professionals, there was nothing further they could do for Felicity. Eventually, her distraught brother Cash consented to turn off the life support equipment, which were the only things keeping her alive.

With the exception of a select few long-serving stars, most of the regular cast members of Home and Away typically sign three-year contracts before leaving the soap opera, which guarantees a consistent churn of actors.
The Felicity character, performed by Jacqui Purvis, was no exception. Her first episode aired in Australia on August 19, 2021, and her last episode aired on August 19, 2024, exactly three years later.

“I’ve had an incredible time on the show,” Jacqui said to Yahoo Australia in her departure interview following the news of Felicity’s death. a few of my greatest years ever.
“However, I knew I wanted an international career, so I had to make the decision to leave and take the plunge.”
Jacqui added, “I’ll be going off to the States to try my luck – hopefully I’ll be working in the industry for the rest of my life, that’s the dream,” in a more recent interview with Inside Soap magazine.
She said, thinking back on her favorite moments from Home and Away: “To put it simply, it’s been the best three years of my life.” I’ve had such good fortune.
“It was a lot of fun to film, so the car wreck on Felicity and Tane’s wedding day was definitely the highlight.
“Closely followed by the sexual assault storyline, because that was a real challenge for me as an actress.”

Felicity has left our screens for good, but her passing will lead to significant plot developments for a number of other characters. This is another plausible explanation for the tragic exit narrative, since Felicity’s passing gives the surviving regulars a unique means of temporarily changing their paths.
Eden Fowler faces a number of challenges in the coming weeks, including dealing with Cash’s decision to end their relationship on the day of Felicity’s funeral and the joint heartbreak of her best friend’s death. Cash also goes against organ donation regulations to locate the young woman who received Felicity’s heart and lungs, but this causes concern for his loved ones as he runs the risk of becoming overly attached to her. Meanwhile, Tane is kept busy not only by dealing with Perri Hayes’ ongoing issues but also by learning the truth about Harper’s pregnancy.
In another scene, Bree Cameron is having a crisis in her profession since she realizes she was unable to save Felicity. She begins to drive herself to exhaustion out of fear that she will make mistakes at work, endangering the safety of the patients.
