Ryder’s Age Leaves EastEnders Viewers Confused
EastEnders fans have been left scratching their heads over Ryder Hawkins’ age, with some viewers finding it difficult to figure out how old the Walford newcomer is meant to be.
Ryder arrived in Albert Square with the rest of his family in August, but his age has become a hot topic among fans in recent weeks as they try to work out the character’s timeline.
Meanwhile, Ryder is at the heart of a major storyline after revealing his sexuality to his aunt, Nicola Mitchell, last week.
He has been struggling with whether to tell his family the truth about his sexuality, especially because he knows his dad, Ned, would not be happy about it.
Nicola has been supporting her nephew and, in today’s episode, encourages him to open up to his mum, Gemma.
However, while Ryder is doing everything he can to keep his sexuality a secret from Ned, he has no idea that his dad has already worked out the truth after catching him kissing another man in Albert Square.
How Old Is Ryder in EastEnders?
Although the BBC soap has not officially confirmed Ryder Hawkins’ age, the character appears to be in his twenties.
His exact age has never been revealed on screen, but speculation among viewers has grown recently after his dad, Ned, began expressing concerns about Ryder’s future and his need to make something of his life.
Until recently, Ryder was unemployed, but he has now started working at Harry’s Barn. He does not appear to be attending college or university either, suggesting that he may have completed his education.
Confusion has also arisen after Nicola Mitchell recently referred to her nephew as a “kid”. This left viewers wondering whether she was simply using the word affectionately or suggesting that Ryder is younger than he appears.
Fans have since taken to social media to share their thoughts and confusion about his age.
“I don’t understand how old Ryder is supposed to be,” one viewer wrote.
Another fan asked: “May I ask how old Ryder is meant to be?” They added that Ryder behaves like a teenager but looks much older, leaving them even more puzzled.
A third viewer shared a similar opinion, saying that Ryder looks around 30 but is being treated as though he is a teenager.
Another fan questioned the Hawkins family’s ages, pointing out that Ryder and Ned appear to be around the same age, making it difficult to believe that they are supposed to be father and son.
How Old Is EastEnders Actor Felix Uff?
Although Felix Uff plays a character who is in his twenties, the actor was born in 1994, making him 32 years old in 2026.
Originally from Ipswich, Felix developed his acting skills by training at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
His role in EastEnders is his biggest acting opportunity so far, but he has also appeared in several other television productions.
His previous credits include Outlander, The Hunting Party, Witches of Essex, FBI: International and Too Much.

The coach offers Ryder a job coaching football, but the opportunity has been organised by Ned without Ryder’s enthusiasm. Ryder is hesitant to accept the offer because his former teammate experienced homophobic abuse within the sport.
As the storyline continues, Ned’s efforts to push Ryder into hiding his true identity are beginning to affect him emotionally.
Ned is determined to turn Ryder into the kind of son he believes he should be, leaving viewers wondering how far he will go to get his way.
