ITV Coronation Street romance ‘sealed’ as newcomer makes beeline for ‘silver fox’

Coronation Street resident Ken Barlow, played by William Roache, could have love in the air once again as a newcomer joins the street.

Fans of Coronation Street may expect hot moments between William Roache’s character Ken Barlow and Helen Lederer’s new character Elspeth. The Weatherfield resident chooses to go to one cocktail night in later scenes.

Ken catches Elspeth’s eye at the Chariot Square Hotel. She initiates conversation by bringing some drinks to the table he and his son-in-law Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) are seated at.

It appears like sparks are flying after her good gesture of inviting her to join them. Unfortunately, Steve, who is still single after splitting from Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), cannot say the same.

Regarding her collaboration with the 91-year-old, Helen had all praise for the seasoned Coronation Street performer. She remarked, “Well, I can see Elspeth’s attraction to him—he’s a true silver fox with quite prominent cheekbones!

“I was acutely aware of the past. There’s a particular lineage, and I appreciate that very much.

The dignity with which they conducted themselves and their ability to make a new acquaintance truly impressed me.

“They spent time getting to know me, and I left thinking, what lovely people.”

Fans of ITV can anticipate seeing Helen on the cobbles on Wednesday during Match 27.

Though she’s only here for a short while, might this be the beginning of a new chapter in Weatherfield history?

Helen seems really eager to continue playing Elspeth on the soap opera when asked if she would be interested to doing so.

“Most definitely” is the response to that, she said.

Ken was undoubtedly attracted to her, but he had Steve to worry about. He took the initiative to get her number and made sure he got it.

Who knows, maybe one day I can return to Weatherfield and he does call her.

The ITV soap opera’s longest-serving character, Ken Barlow, has had his fair share of romantic relationships throughout the years.

Fans witnessed him in a triangle of love when a past romantic interest reappeared in his life more recently.

The brief reappearance of Martha Fraser (Stephanie Beacham) sparked conflict in his relationship with Wendy Crozier (Roberta Kerr).

Ultimately, both women made the decision to leave Weatherfield, which meant that Ken Barlow was once again single.
