EastEnders actress Maddy Hill, who portrays Nancy Carter, has spoken candidly about her own pregnancy and growing baby bump while filming the BBC soap’s pregnancy storyline.

EastEnders has shown the return of Nancy Carter as she becomes involved in a fresh and controversial baby storyline. The blonde-haired character arrived in Walford on Monday (October 5) to visit her younger brother, Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff), seeking legal advice.
Nancy asked Johnny to keep their meeting secret from their mum, Linda (Kellie Bright). However, she later started experiencing stomach pains.
Concerned about his sister, Johnny insisted that Nancy see a doctor. However, she was examined by Linda’s secret lover, Max Branning (Jake Wood), who later spotted her getting into a taxi.
Linda and her mum, Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), quickly followed Nancy and eventually caught up with her, only to learn that she was pregnant. However, Nancy had not revealed the identity of the baby’s father.
Later, Nancy arrived at Peacock Palace with the mystery man, who turned out to be her other brother, Lee Carter (Danny Hatchard), leaving fans uncomfortable as they speculated about a potential incest storyline.

As the week progressed, it became clear that Nancy had agreed to act as a surrogate for her brother Lee and his partner, Jess, after the couple had experienced several miscarriages. However, another unexpected twist revealed that Lee and Jess had since split up, and Lee planned to raise the baby himself.
Following Maddy Hill’s return to EastEnders as the pregnant Nancy Carter, the actress confirmed that she is also expecting a child in real life and is due to welcome a baby girl.
In a “day in the life” video shared on the official EastEnders Instagram page, Maddy explained that she was glad her makeup routine did not take too long, as pregnancy meant she needed to go to the toilet approximately “every 10 minutes”.
Soon afterwards, Maddy spoke with Kellie Bright, who plays her on-screen mum, Linda Carter, and appeared to disclose that she is expecting a baby girl.
Looking at Maddy’s baby bump, Kellie asked, “How is she today?” Maddy replied, “She’s lively today.” Kellie then remarked, “Oh, she’s a lively one,” as Maddy explained that the baby had enjoyed quiche, potatoes and aubergine salad for lunch.
“There’s something joyful about playing a pregnancy, even when it’s a complicated pregnancy,” Maddy later commented.
The behind-the-scenes video featuring Maddy prompted a reaction from viewers who admitted they hadn’t realised she was pregnant both on the soap and in real life. One person took to the comments to ask, “Is she pregnant in real life? Looks very real x,” as reported by the Mirror.

Another viewer commented, “OMG, is she actually pregnant in real life? Her bump looks so realistic.” A third person shared their excitement, writing, “Wahhhhhh, huge congratulations!”
One fan also posted, “Congratulations, Maddy! It’s lovely to have Nancy back!” Another viewer expressed a similar reaction, saying, “I was telling my friend that her bump looked real. I didn’t realise she was pregnant in real life too. Congratulations, Maddy!”
Meanwhile, Kellie Bright commented on the post with a heartfelt message, writing, “I love you @maddyhill90, and I can’t wait to get my hands on that baby!”
