Toxic Ross Wilkes has sparked plenty of trouble in Coronation Street since making his debut

[Coronation Street] could be set to bring back a soap legend as part of a dramatic twist involving Ross Wilkes.
Ross (Ian Burfield) first appeared on the soap earlier this year, when it was revealed that he was Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) biological father. It also emerged that Ross had paid Cassie (Claire Sweeney) for sex when she was just 15, resulting in her falling pregnant with Tyrone.
Since arriving on the cobbles, Ross has caused plenty of trouble, including driving a wedge between Cassie and her loved ones. With nowhere left to turn, she eventually decided to leave Weatherfield and accept a job on a cruise ship.
However, after Ross took Cassie to the train station, he was later seen speeding away with her trapped inside the car. Her fate and whereabouts have remained a mystery ever since.

Ross has also turned his toxic attention towards his grandson Dorin, attempting to manipulate and influence him. In Tuesday’s episode (October 20), Ross was unhappy to discover that his granddaughter Ruby (Billie Naylor) had started taking boxing lessons.
The misogynistic villain disapproved of Ruby’s new hobby and convinced Tyrone to persuade her to give it up. Meanwhile, amid all the unfolding drama, Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) has begun to grow suspicious of Ross and his behaviour.

Spoilers for the rest of the week have revealed that Fiz ends up clashing with Ross after Tyrone tells her that Ross confiscated his phone. Furious, Fiz confronts Ross and accuses him of deliberately ruining the family film night.
However, with Ross seemingly set to cause even more trouble, fans believe a former resident of the cobbles could return to put an end to his behaviour. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, viewers have suggested that Cilla Battersby (Wendi Peters) could make a comeback.
One fan commented: “Bring Back Cilla. Corie (sic) was at its best with a bit humour!”
Another viewer agreed, writing: “She might be back to sort that Ross out.”
A third person added: “Good idea, he’s vile and Cilla wouldn’t stand for him for sure.”

Cilla Battersby (Wendi Peters) is the mother of Fiz and Chesney (Sam Aston) and first arrived on the famous cobbles in 2003. Originally introduced as Les Battersby’s (Bruce Jones) love interest, Cilla quickly became a popular character with viewers.
She featured in several unforgettable moments, including the iconic scene in which Cilla and Les fell through their ceiling after their dog, Schmeichel, jumped into their bath.
However, in 2007, fans were left disappointed when Cilla bid farewell to the cobbles. The following year, Wendi made a cameo appearance as Cilla in the soap’s spin-off, Coronation Street: Out of Africa.
In 2014, the character returned for another brief stint. Since then, though, the outspoken soap favourite has remained absent from Weatherfield.
