But Why Has Sean Returned, and Is Max Branning Involved?

Sean Slater made his long-awaited return to Albert Square yesterday after spending years away, leaving EastEnders fans delighted and thrilled to see him back!

His comeback has also sparked plenty of speculation about the real reason behind the troubled Slater’s return to Walford.

From appearing in the New Year flashforward to potentially becoming a property developer, fans are already sharing their theories and discussing what they would love to see happen next for Sean!

What Should You Know About Sean Slater?

Sean Slater is Stacey Slater’s older brother, Jean’s son and Lily’s uncle. He has been living in Brazil, where Stacey also resides, and has been running a restaurant.

His last appearance in Walford was via FaceTime in 2022. Before that, he made a brief return in November 2021 and another appearance in spring 2019.

However, it has been quite some time since Sean was a permanent resident of Albert Square.

Sean first arrived in Walford in August 2006, where he reunited with his sister Stacey.

He quickly became known for his womanising ways, enjoying romantic flings with Ruby Allen, Chelsea Fox and Tanya Branning, the former wife of Max Branning.

Sean Slater’s Troubled Past in EastEnders

As well as charming several of Walford’s women, Sean also became notorious for his unpredictable and often disturbing behaviour. In an attempt to get revenge on Max for the way he had treated Tanya, Sean joined forces with her, and the pair even buried Max alive!

However, after Tanya eventually freed Max, she confessed to Sean that she had only been using him to get her revenge. Heartbroken by the revelation, Sean’s behaviour became even more reckless.

Eventually, Sean crossed paths with Roxy Mitchell, and the pair seemed like a perfect match.

Well, almost!

When Roxy discovered she was pregnant, the couple decided to get married. However, Roxy was hiding a huge secret: she had slept with her sister’s partner, Jack Branning, during a one-night stand, meaning he could be the baby’s father.

In one of EastEnders’ most memorable Christmas twists, the paternity test results were concealed inside a Christmas cracker. As expected, the results revealed that baby Amy was actually Jack’s daughter.

Completely heartbroken, Sean later had a dramatic showdown with Roxy on a frozen lake before leaving Walford for good.

More Drama Could Be on the Way!

If there’s one thing everyone knows about Sean Slater, it’s that trouble and drama are never far behind him!

That’s why EastEnders fans were so excited to see him back in Walford.

“I always forget what a handsome menace Sean is,” joked one delighted viewer. Another fan shared their excitement, saying: “I cannot tell you how happy I am Sean is back!”

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves!

Other viewers were quick to recall some of Sean’s most unforgettable moments.

“Sean is one of the greatest characters of all time,” one fan enthusiastically commented. However, another viewer reminded everyone: “He could be a bit of a psycho to say the least.”

Someone else also issued a warning to Craig, pointing out that Sean “can behave erratically”. And honestly, that might be putting it mildly!

Why Has Sean Slater Returned to Walford?

It seems unlikely that Sean has come back to Walford because of Amy, as he was unaware that she had gone missing. Several EastEnders fans have already highlighted this point.

“Clearly not back just for Amy,” one viewer commented.

So, what exactly has brought him back to Albert Square?

Fans have already started coming up with their own theories.

“I hope Sean returns with a truckload of money and buys Number 31 out from under Ned,” one viewer suggested.

Another fan shared a much simpler but equally intriguing theory, claiming: “He’s the flash-forward gunman.”

And that certainly sounds like an interesting possibility!

We’re looking forward to finding out what Sean’s return has in store for Walford.
