While many viewers believe it could happen, others are hoping the soap avoids ruining a storyline that has the potential to be handled brilliantly.
Linda Carter was left stunned when two of her children, Nancy and Lee, returned to Walford. However, there was another surprise when Nancy revealed that she was pregnant. The baby, though, isn’t her own, as she is acting as a surrogate for her brother, Lee.

Earlier this month, Nancy and Lee made a surprise return to EastEnders. In an unexpected twist, Nancy revealed that she was acting as a surrogate for Lee, leaving her mum Linda completely stunned.
However, Nancy explained that she had to return home to seek legal advice after Lee’s partner, Jess, ended their relationship. They were worried that Jess might try to run away with the baby once it was born.
Linda didn’t take the news well, believing that if she had been more open about her relationship with Max, her children might have felt more comfortable being honest with her.
However, it was Linda’s conversation with Max that left fans wondering whether another twist could be on the way. She admitted: “I’m so scared that when she looks in that baby’s eyes and has to give them up that she will never, ever get over it.”
Now, fans are speculating that Nancy might not give the baby up after all.

Some fans are worried that Nancy might ultimately decide to keep the baby, with EastEnders potentially exploring a topical storyline.
One viewer shared their theory in a Reddit discussion, writing: “Anyone else think Nancy and Zack will get together? Then Nancy will decide she wants to keep the baby and raise it with Zack?
“EastEnders love a good awareness storyline and surrogates do have legal rights to change their mind in the UK. Especially given that Lee’s partner seems to be out of the picture too. And we also know how Zack longed for a child and family for years.”
Another fan supported the idea, commenting: “It would be so nice to see Zack and Nancy together, so maybe this could happen.”
“Yep. So obvious,” a third viewer remarked, while another added: “I had wondered about this too!”
However, plenty of fans are against the idea, pointing out that Nancy’s character has always been strongly opposed to having children. They hope the soap won’t take her storyline in a completely different direction.
One viewer explained: “I hope not. Considering how Nancy has been so against having kids. Women can have other storylines instead of babies. I hope EastEnders know that.”
Another fan agreed, saying: “I hope not since Nancy never wanted kids. It would be nice to see a character who sticks to that. Plus, she would then be raising her niece which would be super insane of her to do. And Zack has a daughter he barely sees anyway!”
A further viewer questioned whether a reunion was likely, writing: “Nancy and Lee are only back for guest stints so I’m not sure her and Zack are getting back together. But even if they do I wouldn’t want EastEnders to ruin this plot.”
