Could Phil Mitchell Find Love Again After Years of Being Single in EastEnders?

EastEnders fans believe they have uncovered a potential new romance for Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) after years of living the single life. Phil’s most recent long-term relationship was with Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace). The pair married in 2023, but their relationship ended a year later, and they officially divorced in June 2025.

Their split followed Phil’s brief affair with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit), the mother of Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold). Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) exposed their secret romance during a family gathering at The Queen Vic. Kat eventually moved on and rekindled her relationship with her former husband, Alfie Moon (Shane Richie). Meanwhile, Phil has yet to find a new partner in Walford, despite attracting plenty of attention from local women.

Over the past three decades, Phil has been married five times, including to Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), with whom he shares his son, Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden). He is also the father of Louise (Tilly Keeper), whom he welcomed with his former girlfriend Lisa Fowler (Lucy Benjamin). In addition, Phil shares a son, Raymond, with Denise Fox (Diane Parish) following a one-night stand between the pair.

In a surprising twist, Phil was confirmed as the father of six-year-old Albie Watts after his six-year marriage to Sharon Watts, which came to an end in 2020. The former couple share a complicated history and have recently been growing closer again as they spend time together for the sake of their son.

However, EastEnders fans are convinced that Phil and Sharon will not rekindle their romance. Instead, viewers believe he could start a relationship with Gemma Hawkins (Patricia Potter), who recently arrived in Albert Square as the sister of Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington).

Earlier this week, on the BBC soap, Gemma was desperate to have her car repaired before her dodgy husband, Ned Hawkins (Jamie Bamber), discovered the situation and “went mad”. She interrupted Phil and Sharon’s lunch date at Knight Fusion to ask Phil for help with her car. However, he quickly brushed her off, responding in an unfriendly manner.

However, Phil had a change of heart when he bumped into Gemma again at Harry’s Barn and agreed to inspect her car, as she was still desperate to get it fixed. In a heartwarming moment, Gemma later visited Phil at his home, where he handed back her car keys and revealed that he had repaired the vehicle without expecting any payment. His kind gesture left her delighted.

EastEnders fans are now convinced they have noticed a spark between Phil and Gemma. Despite Gemma being married to Ned, viewers suspect the pair could soon begin a romantic relationship.

Taking to X, one EastEnders fan predicted: “Phil and Gemma are defo going to get together aren’t they……#EastEnders.”

Another viewer shared a similar theory, writing: “Gemma and Phil are gonna sleep together aren’t they #EastEnders.”

A third fan shared their prediction, saying: “Phil and Gemma are probably gonna get together after Ned’s inevitable exit; I would much prefer this to him and Sharon reuniting, as they should just be friends #EastEnders.”

Another viewer also noticed the potential romance, writing: “Feel like they are deffo setting up Gemma and Phil #EastEnders.” Meanwhile, a different fan admitted: “Just putting it out there that I would not be opposed to these two becoming an item in the near future #EastEnders.”

Backing the possibility of Phil and Gemma becoming a couple, one viewer explained: “I definitely ship Phil and Gemma together in the future because he’s actually worked on his toxic masculinity and mental health and become a great person versus Ned who fakes being a great person and mental health advocate when he’s far from all of that! He’s a snake #EastEnders.”
