EastEnders’ Kat is devastated by Zoe’s death as fans suspect she’ll cheat on Alfie once again

EastEnders has aired an emotional scene featuring Kat Moon as she struggles to cope with the devastating loss of her daughter, Zoe Slater. As fans of the BBC soap will know, Zoe (Michelle Ryan) died suddenly after suffering a head injury while attempting to steal her grandfather’s taxi.

After waking up in the middle of the night, Kat (Jessie Wallace) went to check on her daughter, only to discover that she had died in her bed. In complete shock at what she was seeing, Kat covered Zoe’s body with blankets, hoping to warm her up and bring her back around.

Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) eventually walked into Zoe’s bedroom and discovered that she was dead, prompting him to alert the rest of the family and contact the emergency services. Since then, Kat has been overwhelmed by grief, spending much of the past month lying in Zoe’s bed and refusing to change out of her pyjamas. She has also turned to heavy drinking as she struggles to come to terms with her heartbreaking loss.

On Wednesday (October 14), Kat continued to struggle with her grief as she sat alone in the Square Gardens, surrounded by painful reminders of Zoe’s death. In one scene, she grabbed a bottle of alcohol from the barrel store and stumbled into the market, where she bumped into Ned Hawkins (Jamie Bamber). Ned appeared suspicious as he watched her walk away.

Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) later found Kat heavily intoxicated and eventually helped her back to his house. Once there, she began frantically searching through his cupboards for alcohol, hurling insults before making her way back to The Vic. Upon returning, Kat boldly declared that all drinks for the rest of the evening would be free.

Sitting alongside a group of rowdy men, Kat continued to insult Alfie and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) and even wished death upon her granddaughter, Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness). She then led a man into the women’s toilets before mocking Alfie’s personality and clothing, fully aware that he was inside a cubicle trying to unblock the toilet.

Moments later, Kat accidentally knocked her son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) to the floor when the teenager tried to show concern for his mum. Kat’s behaviour proved too much for an enraged Alfie, and the episode ended with her continuing to provoke him.

Alfie slammed the door behind him and shouted, “Right, enough is enough,” insisting that they deal with her behaviour immediately. But will Kat listen to her husband before things go too far?

As Kat’s grief continues to spiral out of control, EastEnders fans are convinced she could cheat on Alfie following her earlier encounter with ruthless newcomer Ned. He is currently manipulating Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and Mark Fowler (Stephen Aaron-Sipple).

Ned has also blackmailed his sister-in-law, Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington), into purchasing shares in Harry’s Barn and orchestrated a violent attack on his own son, Ryder (Felix Uff).

Taking to X, one fan commented: “That little moment between Ned and Kat outside The Vic has me worried. I really hope Ned doesn’t target Kat too, just like he tried to offer Ian therapy last week. Could this be subtle foreshadowing that Ned and Kat will be involved in the revenge plot against Max on New Year’s Day?”

Another viewer wrote: “I think Ned will either use Kat or Alfie to get his hands on The Vic. I still stand by my theory that Ned will use his therapy skills on Nicola.”

A third fan pleaded: “Oh no! Ned, please stay away from hurricane Kat. We’re begging you!”

Meanwhile, another viewer expressed frustration with Kat’s behaviour, saying: “Here we go again with Kat. Every time she goes through something, she has a meltdown and resorts to this. Get ready for her to cheat on Alfie for the millionth time. They split up, and then Alfie, being the mug that he is, tries to take her back.”
